POSITION ANNOUNCEMENT

Title: Audience Development Manager – Foreign Affairs

Salary: Based on education and experience

Foreign Affairs is looking for an enthusiastic and enterprising professional to drive readership, build awareness, and develop new audiences for the magazine, its digital properties, and its ancilliary franchises. This position will pivot and grow as industry and business needs evolve in a constantly changing media landscape, so candidates must be flexible, adaptable to new responsibilities, and capable of leading innovation. This person will report to the Marketing Director but will collaborate with staff across departments, including editorial, advertising, and digital development.

Responsibilities include:

- Lead audience growth campaigns for prospecting and building paid readership including:

  • New business acquisition via online marketing, email campaigns, social media, and mail efforts
  • Retention of existing subscribers via digital and mail outreach
  • Conversion campaigns to cross-sell new products brought to market

- Develop and advance audience research and segmentation to maximize engagement across digital channels such as ForeignAffairs.com, the iPad app, eReader partners like Kindle, newsletters, and social media

- Work with third-party vendors on content distribution, syndication, and partnerships, as well as with outside vendors supporting circulation efforts and traditional fulfillment operations

- Oversee creative development for print and digital marketing collateral

- Assist in the launch of new product development and content repackaging

- Lead targeted campaigns to support advertising products and initatives

- Develop compelling marketing campaigns for ancillary products like eBooks and new features or franchises

- Promote events and conferences

Qualifications include:

- 3 - 5 years professional experience

- Publishing, media, and/or ecommerce experience required

- Interest in growing digital and print media brands, new media, and foreign policy

- Experience with data including financials and website analytics

- BA degree in related field with strong academic credentials

- Flexible, team-player attitude
