Saudi Arabia – Investing in Humanity
A Sponsored Section from the September/October 2009 Issue
Saudi Arabian society is deeply committed to charitable and social causes, to a degree which is little known outside of the kingdom. Philanthropic giving, to those in need, is a fundamental tenet of Islamic belief and it is wide-spread practice in Saudi Arabia. More than 500 charitable organizations operate in the kingdom, supporting a wide variety of causes. For the first time, Saudi Arabia’s charitable sector has spoken to SML Strategic Media, affording a rare insight into Saudi Arabian society. This is a portrait of a dynamic sector with considerable impact on education, public health and poverty reduction. Not only do individuals and the Saudi Arabian government contribute generously to domestic and international development; corporate entities also are increasingly investing in corporate social responsibility.
