Between the Thunder and the Sun
The author of "Personal History" records his impressions of events and persons, especially in the haut monde, during the last years of so-called peace. The scene shifts from Salzburg to the Côte d'Azur, to England (before and during the Blitz), to the Orient and finally back to America at the moment of Pearl Harbor. Mr. Sheean's perceptions are, as usual, sensitive and egocentric, and his interpretations often illuminating.
