Sicily--Salerno--Anzio: January 1943-June 1944
This ninth volume of Admiral Morison's magistral History of United States Naval Operations in World War II covers the three major amphibious operations in the Mediterranean in 1943 and 1944. More than in some of the other volumes, the author must also pass judgment on land as well as sea strategy, and he is quite critical of several features of the Sicilian and Italian campaigns.
