This volume, the first of the Columbia University Studies in International Organization, undertakes the difficult job of defining and discussing the various economic, political and strategic issues that promise to emerge from man's advances into outer space. It seems evident that effective controls in this new sphere must be international. A section of the book is devoted to controls for the Antarctic, as a terrestrial analogy.
