The Last European War: September 1939-December 1941

Reviewed by Christoph M. Kimmich

A revisionist reinterpretation of the initial and decisive phase of World War II, written from a conservative perspective. The first half of the book traces the course of the war itself, the second assesses its impact on Europeans and European states; together they illustrate the author's contention that these years witnessed the end of the "old Europe." Full of arcane information and provocative judgments. A considerable achievement.
