Three good history books pertinent to current issues. Adams provides a solid base of analysis of the 1920s and early 1930s before relating the Exim Bank to U.S. policy toward the U.S.S.R., China, Japan and Latin America. By stressing the origins of the World Bank, Oliver avoids more than a chapter or two of overlap with the Mason and Asher book of 1973 and provides much original material. The six authors of the Lehrman Institute volume focus sharply on the theme of hegemony or pluralism as a condition for monetary order.
