Yearbooks are curious, perhaps anachronistic, items for bibliographers and scholars. Unlike "annual surveys," they are not synopses of a year's events, but rather try to place significant events in a broader context. The first of these yearbooks is a new addition to this genre and includes eight essays summarizing the state of the discipline of international organization or the development of major regional bodies. The second is the 30th volume of a once-prestigious publication whose gradual decline reflects the difficulty of compiling such reference books.
