Broadcasting in the Third World
The uses of public broadcasting by developing countries as an instrument of political control, education and cultural integration conflict sharply and increasingly with Western notions of how a free press should operate. This critical evaluation remains sympathetic to the instrumental role of broadcasting in development, and proposes accommodations which Western broadcasting should make and innovations developing countries might institute.
