Four excellent essays from four different perspectives, each presenting a rigorous critique of present economic relations between North and South and an exploration of possible strategies for Southern development. Although all agree on the need for change, prescriptions vary from a recuperation of liberal international principles to selective delinking of North and South to a strategy of basic human needs to radical redistribution both between North and South and within Northern and Southern states.
