Some 60 eyewitness accounts by survivors of the ghettos and concentration camps in Eastern Europe. Dealing with the conditions of daily life, with atrocities and attempts to resist, they make for grim reading. The originals, recorded after the war, mostly in Yiddish, belong to the collection of the YIVO Institute for Jewish Research in New York, where Trunk is chief archivist.
