History's Carnival: A Dissident's Autobiography

Quite a number of Soviet dissidents with roughly similar experiences-of protest, arrest, incarceration and eventual release and exile-have published their stories in the West. That of Leonid Plyushch, a Ukrainian scientist, stands out for both its intellectual and its human qualities. His own story, well and simply told, is supplemented by his wife's account of her four-year struggle for his freedom.
