This documented monograph is essentially an exposition of legal issues, relating them to political interests but not venturing far into the politics of the Gulf. It shows how Saudi Arabia and the Shah of Iran managed to settle most of their conflicting claims to use of the Gulf and its resources, and also moved other Gulf states toward common positions on the Law of the Sea and the concept of a Gulf community.
