U.S.-Soviet Relations in the Era of Detente
Author and publisher must have agreed that this is the optimum time to reissue the articles and papers written over the past decade by Professor Pipes, now the National Security Council's resident expert on the Soviet Union. In his preface he notes how right he was in his uncompromising views and how little heed to them was paid by those in charge of foreign policy during the Nixon and Carter years. In any event, he is consistent, he has historical perspective, and he is worth reading.
