The State
Edited by Stephen R. Graubard
Stephen Graubard, editor of Daedalus, judged the time ripe for a reassessment of the state as a political-social institution and as primary actor in world affairs, and his chosen authors responded with a set of stimulating, often original articles ranging across a broad field of constitutional, ethical and political subjects. The conventional wisdom that the nation-state has outlived its time and may in the end destroy us all still has much evidence to support it, but none of these authors nor anyone else has discovered a practical alternative.
