Mainly a disquisition on Marxist thought and on the general phenomenon of Stalinism, these essays also contain a criticism of Titoist Yugoslavia, pointing to the authoritarian Stalinist legacy remaining after 1948 and the failure, despite "socialist self-management," to move to the practice of democratic socialism. One of the Praxis group and of the "Belgrade Eight," Stojanovic was unable, for reasons which will be obvious to the reader, to get his book published in Yugoslavia.
