European Business and South Africa: An Appraisal of the EC Code of Conduct

Although these evaluations of the EC (European Community) Code were prepared for a conference in 1979, little has changed in the interim. Indeed, they sound very like contemporary assessments of the U.S. Sullivan Code: some progress has been made on wages, working conditions and black unionization; compliance and reporting are spotty (with the Germans lagging considerably behind the British); the effects are, on the whole, marginal.
