Accepting as real the dangers that can come from the pressure of people on finite resources, the president of the Worldwatch Institute takes the opposite tack from Julian Simon. He devotes his efforts to showing what can be done-in energy, food and other fields-to achieve a "sustainable" society. This is an eloquent, hopeful book.
