Poland Today: The State of the Republic

In 1978 a group of Polish intellectuals founded a club to discuss their country's incipient economic and political crisis and the need for change. Looking to reform the system rather than to dismantle it, their views nevertheless constitute a devastating criticism. This book is a translation of two papers which appeared before the watershed events of 1980 and might be taken as the agenda for the debates and changes then unleashed both within and outside the Party.
