Ideology and Development in Africa
This volume, a product of the Council's Africa Project, assesses the performance of African states of varied ideologies in economic growth, distribution, self-reliance, human dignity, participation and societal capacity. The central conclusion is that development "success" cannot be tied to any particular ideology. Despite the lack of a single unambiguous conclusion, this stimulating book lays very useful groundwork for the central task of this decade: the need to redefine economic, social and political development beyond current political ideologies.
