Final Judgment: My Life as a Soviet Defense Attorney
A revealing first-hand account of the workings of the Soviet system of criminal justice. The author defended a number of prominent dissidents (Bukovsky, Litvinov, Galanskov and others) and in time, being unwilling to compromise, had to give up her profession and her country. The book is a companion piece to The Corrupt Society by her husband, Konstantin Simis (noted in Foreign Affairs, Winter 1982/83).
