The Wizards of Armageddon

Reviewed by Andrew J. Pierre

The story of the remarkable civilians who developed the novel field of nuclear strategy-men such as Bernard Brodie, William Kaufmann, Albert Wohlstetter and Herman Kahn, among others-is told admirably well. Even those who are familiar with this story will find fascinating new details here. Especially interesting is the account of the pre-1960 period. An absorbing work which is more scholarly and less sensational than the title implies.
