Ease My Sorrows: A Memoir

Reviewed by John C. Campbell

A third volume of Kopelev's series of informative and moving autobiographical works, this one on the period 1947-1954 when he was incarcerated in a special prison camp for scientists who could do research useful to the regime, and before his full disillusionment with the Soviet system. Readers will recognize him as "Rubin" in Solzhenitsyn's The First Circle.
