Economic Sanctions Reconsidered: History and Current Policy
Fewer than 100 pages give a complex, nuanced picture of the factors that make for the success and failure of economic sanctions and estimate their costs (often surprisingly little). The rest of this large book presents condensed statements of the 103 cases on which the authors have built their conclusions. A limited guide to policy (as the authors recognize), this study is a good antidote to the loose generalizations common to this subject.
