Published for the National Strategy Information Center, these two volumes complete a seven-volume symposium, begun in 1979, on almost all aspects of intelligence in relation to American national security. Here, as in the previous volumes, the contributors share the belief that more effective intelligence and counterintelligence are indispensable if we are to survive the hostile purposes of our enemies. They have little patience with those who charge that American intelligence activities are themselves a significant threat to democratic values.
