Dependency Theory and the Return of High Politics

A number of good ideas help shape this book. They concern the "besetting sins" of model-making, the inadequacies of current theories of international relations, the "two realities"-material and ideological-that "occupy the same space at the same time," the subjective element in theorizing, and the need for more attention to psychology in the interpretation of international behavior. Unfortunately, little is done to build on these thoughts, and the case studies and other empirical material do not help much.
