The Making of the Atomic Bomb

This almost 900-page account of the Manhattan Project makes for a good read. At times it is gripping, with the human dimension, especially the hopes and fears of the scientists, portrayed in full color. Complex scientific development is explained in understandable terms. Yet in the final analysis it is another telling of an already frequently told story.
