A senior lecturer at Tel Aviv University fills in the familiar outlines of this subject with abundant and illuminating detail-on African links to the Arab world and resistance to Arabization; on Arab gains since 1973; on the politics of terminating and resuming relations with Israel; on prospects for change. In most of Africa he sees a trend toward increased tolerance for pluralism regarding Israel and stabilization of ties with the Arab states.
