Romanian Politics In The Ceausescu Era
Because most of its chapters are revised articles published over the past decade, stitched together to present three major subjects (elite-mass relations, local institutions and, much more lightly, international relations), the book as a whole lacks balance as a full treatment of Romanian politics. The author knows the country well, however, and his exemplary research fully supports his exposé of the "autocratic populism" of the Ceausescu regime.
