The title is intended to suggest a sequel to Edmund Wilson's classic account of the rise of socialism in Europe in the two hundred years prior to the Russian revolution. This work analyzes the life-cycle of the twentieth-century communist revolutions, not only in the Soviet Union and China but also in Cuba and Vietnam, and the erosion of communist ideology in current times.
