Drawing in part on her own experience as a Canadian official, Dobson does a splendid job of clarifying a vital subject that is often obscured by fuzzy language. She shows very concretely what has-and has not-been done to coordinate economic policies among the main industrial countries, a process that often involves domestic as well as international negotiation. Arguing that even modest success warrants continuing the effort, she makes specific recommendations for improvement.
