Arms Control And Weapons Proliferation In The Middle East And South Asia

Reviewed by William B. Quandt

A collection of essays initially written in 1989 but updated after the 1991 Gulf War. The authors present views of supplier countries interested in stability and regional powers concerned with deterrence and equity. The tone is serious, nonpolemical and often dubious that arms control can be promoted without progress toward resolving regional conflicts. While devoid of surprises, this is a useful, if not inspiring, collection.
