The Legitimization of Violence

These case studies of political violence in Peru, Italy, Lebanon, Ireland, and elsewhere, which are individually informative, are packaged in an analytical framework that will be virtually unreadable by anyone not steeped in the post-modernist vocabulary of Barthes, Baudrillard, and the like. It is not clear how talk of "drenched signifiers" and "inversionary discourse" advances our understanding of political violence.
