Frank Plantan, Jr.

Frank Plantan is a Co-director of the International Relations Program at the University of Pennsylvania and serves as National President of the National Honor Society for International Studies, Sigma Iota Rho. His areas of expertise include Northeast Asia and the political, economic, and foreign relations of Korea, China, and Japan, as well as the history of international relations in American higher education.
In his "Political Risk Analysis" course, Dr. Plantan, uses case studies, simulation, and exercises drawn from real scenarios to help students develop their skills and bridge academic theory with practice. Dr. Plantan recommends students in his class read "Lessons for the Next Financial Crisis" (Mar/Apr 1999) by Jeffrey E. Garten and "Mbeki's South Africa" (Nov/Dec 2005) by Jeffrey Herbst.
