Melissa Labonte
Melissa Labonte is assistant professor of political science at Fordham University. She is currently conducting research on agenda-setting and the politics of consensus building in the office of the United Nations 63rd General Assembly President, Fr. Miguel d’Escoto Brockmann. Labonte's recent and upcoming publications include “Same Car, Different Driver? The Impact of Peacebuilding 'Partnerships' and the Chiefdom System in Sierra Leone,” Journal of Peacebuilding and Development Vol. 4, no. 1 (March 2008) and "Human Rights and Peacebuilding," in David P. Forsythe, ed., Encyclopedia of Human Rights (Oxford: Oxford University Press, June 2009).
In her classes United Nations and Introduction to International Politics, Labonte frequently uses Foreign Affairs articles including "Why the Security Council Failed" (May/Jun 2003) by Michael J. Glennon and "Power Shift" (Jan/Feb 1997) by Jessica T. Mathews.
