Understanding Iran: Everything You Need to Know, From Persia to the Islamic Republic, From Cyrus to Ahmadinejad
Palgrave Macmillan recently released Understanding Iran: Everything You Need to Know, From Persia to the Islamic Republic, From Cyrus to Ahmadinejad. Sizzling headlines from Iran's controversial election this summer, have stoked renewed interest in the country. Author William R Polk writes an easy to read overview of a country often misunderstood. He has taken on this challenge before, with Understanding Iraq, reviewed favorably in the pages of Foreign Affairs (May/June 2005). Polk is a veteran of the State Department and the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestinian Refugees in the Near East. He is also established the Center for Middle Eastern Studies at the University of Chicago.
