News Release: Foreign Affairs Partners with U.S. Chamber of Commerce in Honor of International Women’s Day
Foreign Affairs magazine on Tuesday joined the U.S. Chamber of Commerce for the fourth annual International Women’s Day Forum.
Keynote speakers included Vice Chair of the Clinton Foundation Chelsea Clinton, Ambassador Melanne Verveer, and award-winning journalist Soledad O’Brien. The theme of the event was “Turning Inspiration into Action: Next Steps for the Private Sector to Empower Women Globally.”
“Women are increasingly recognized for their crucial role in fueling economic growth globally,” said Lynda Hammes, publisher of Foreign Affairs magazine. “This is an opportunity to look at practical initiatives that support women and girls in the public and private sector—and how those investments pay significant returns.”
Foreign Affairs participated as a media partner in the event along with CSR Wire, a media outlet dedicated to covering corporate social responsibility, and Devex, an information website focused on international development. Magazine distribution at the event was supported by the California-based skin care company Dermalogica, which is highlighting its FITE (Financial Independence Through Entrepreneurship) program, committed to providing fifty thousand microloans for women entrepreneurs.
The magazine has expanded its event-based partnerships over the past several years, hosting events with organizations like Bloomberg and the Foreign Policy Association. The magazine is distributed at major global events such as G20 summits, and at the annual meetings of the IMF/World Bank. Foreign Affairs and Devex last year co-hosted their first annual event around the occassion of the White House Correspondents' Dinner, and will do so again on May 1 of this year.
Foreign Affairs, published by the Council on Foreign Relations since 1922, is an independent magazine of analysis and commentary on foreign policy and international affairs. In recent biannual surveys, Foreign Affairs has been ranked among the top ten most influential media outlets by the independent research firm Erdos & Morgan.
