The G-2 Mirage
A heightened bilateral relationship may not be possible for China and the United States, as the two countries have mismatched interests and values. Washington should embrace a more flexible and multilateral approach.

Bilateral Relationship between the US and China
I agree that the US Administration needs to be cautious about upgrading its relationship with China. However as the authors have so rightly explained this relationship should continue in spite of the difficulties involved and the differences in ideology.
We need a safer world. This will be acheived through dialogue and not friction.
The China-United States equation.
Perhaps, China is the natural opponent of the United States, because she competes with the United States for oil, and other natural resources. If China were to put pressure on Myanmar, and there was a regime change, then it would be difficult to prioritize Myanmar's foreign policy outlook, towards China, if there was nothing to loose for Myanmar having a cordial diplomatic relationship with the United States. Perhaps, the United States has similar issues like China, towards China. Because of the Cold War, both China and the United States, had an unusual, intimate relationship with Pakistan. It would be very difficult for Pakistan to have an equal good relationship with both China and the United States, at present, unless both the nations are more cordial towards each other. I suspect, that Pakistan would choose China over the United States. Hence, the warming of relations between India and the United States.
Let us not look towards the future. If China is seen to be the most important economic power after the United States, today, and may overtake the United States, as the paramount economic power, then the process is already underway. It would be futile to wait, until the figures corroborate this at a distant date, and both China and the United States must act in a way, to come to a compromise in this future scenario. The ascent of The U S A in world affairs, was because of the liberal outlook of the United States, for almost all of the world, outside of the Communist Bloc. China will have to replicate this outlook, for the world, including The United States, if the world is to have long lasting peace.
G2 mirage
The 2 , US /China may not
be able to co-operate or ' unite ' for more reasons than people realise.
The need for US leadership is perhaps essential - due to Caucasian immune systems being more 'advanced ' than geographically and politically isolated Asian immune systems.
In the event of a non human species threat -
an extraterrestrial or terrestrial threat at any time,
now or in the future , the human race would be 'doomed' without the better immune system- therefore Asia can never 'lead' the human race.
The advanced US systems and structures are testimony to the advanced Caucasian mutation/physiology/ which China depends on - rather than doesn't need.
Re: G2 mirage
I am very surprised and saddened by the comment of the above poster, Leslie G. It is people like that that tragedies like the Holocaust happened. Talking about alien invasions and Caucasian superiority...??!! Are you serious? How can someone so psychopathic, delusional, and narrow-minded still exist in today's global world? It boggles my mind.
G2
There are other countries in the world other than China and US. What happen to EU. Multi countries relationship make sense in a globalizaition world.
I totally agree with this
I totally agree with this fact that appeasing China policy will not Pay USA much. China is a country whose history modern and ancient needs to be kept in Mind before going too close to this Nation. It is the mindset of this Nation which can be studied from its Ancient History.Multilateral approach is better sense.By showing openly as if that USA is trying to appease China it is giving an impression to the world that USA is loosing its leadership status.I think present US Administration can go with its slogan of Change, but Nations powerful like USA needs to keep in my mind that like individual posture and body language a Leading nation needs to maintain its protocol and status. The US leadership must remeber that Change doesnt mean going Fluid or quasi static,
The way China is trying to Encircle USA and the way China is showing its agressive and Hegemonistic Designs in Indian Ocean USA needs to have more stable policy then getting too maleable and ductile.China is not going to Budge. I think while fighting for control in Afganistan and Pakistan the sweat of US is visible.Instead USA may have a long drawn stretegic relations with Country like India where It is Democracy. A culture which is transparent. US knows that in Democracies it is easier to know inside out..That is why China knows all about USA but Vice Versa it may not be that true. Instead of Partnering with G2 as China I do feel that G2 with india will be more viable and durable partnership. It is easier to handle common enemies,But not wise to share the bed with someone whose moves are not clear and whose Ancient History as powerfull nation is different Example. The Indo_US Combine can be a better stretegic Post then China. Only one thing needs to be assured that "the Relations with India shall not become a sacrificial goat to maintain relation with pakistan and Vice versa". It will be in the interest of US to take India alongwith,at least in Afganistan It is China who will be hurt more for this then Pakistan. Of course China always uses Lungs of Pakistan to present the things in a way that to pakistan it looks so, and world and Particulalaly US also starts feeling as if it is the inner voice of Pakistan ,but i am sure it is actually the tone of China but of course Lungs are of Pakistan. Please tell CIA to verify. Also Political leadership in USA Needs to understand that Political Funding shall not be the Basis of Stretigic relation?. National interest is Supreme.
Comical
Excuse me from my inability to fully comprehend your rambling and incoherent sentences. Funny that an Indian should want to hype up and overestimate your own country. India is China's Pakistan. The US is trying to control India's geopolitical hissy-fits. It is a country which the US and China are trying to manage without doing irreparable damage to the Af/Pak strategy. India foreign policy should start being shaped by interests than emotions and inferiority/superiority complex. Only then can there be meaningful dialogue with the US and China.
G2: A Reality for the Economic Crisis
Perhaps it is impossible for the US and China to cooperate on international security issues, due to the controversies over Taiwan and Tibet. However, global problems require global solutions, and we are in the midst of a global economc crisis. If we are going to get out of this financial trouble, we are going to need the rest of the world. And China is an important piece in this puzzle. We need their cooperation.
A heightened bilateral
Henry Kissinger has called for the U.S.-Chinese relationship to be "taken to a new level" and Zbigniew Brzezinski has advocated the development of a G-2, a group of two comprising China and the United States that could address the international financial crisis, tackle climate change, limit the proliferation of weapons of mass destruction, and maybe even help resolve the Israeli-Palestinian conflict..teeth whitening
