Fifteen papers from seminars chaired by Irene Taeuber present a chaotic mélange of questions without answers and problems without solutions. The only certainty that emerges is that present rates of population growth and urbanization in the area cannot go on; whether the trend will be halted by social reform or, to use the words of the chairperson, "conflict," "cataclysm," "disintegration," and increased mortality rates is unresolved.
