The Quest for Self-Determination
By Dov Ronen
Yale University Press, 1979, 144 pp.
In a thoughtful essay, part historical research with comparative examples, part philosophical rumination, Dov Ronen interprets the idea of self-determination broadly to include not only classic nationalism but also the class struggles of workers and peasants, and the potential individualistic pluralism of the future. His critique of the modern nation-state is more original than most.
