Zionism and Economy
Schenkman, 1983, 169 pp.
The economy originally developed by the Jewish community in Palestine and later by the Mapai governments of the state of Israel was the product of the socialist Zionist ideology of the East European leadership. It was modified, of course, by the economic realities of the environment, although the resistance of the Zionist model to the laws of economics was extraordinary. From the standpoint of international relations, this study has added interest in its treatment of (a) the role of the Arabs in the Zionist scheme of things and in reality, and (b) the shift in outlook in Israel with the decline of Labor and the rise of Likud.
