Let the Credit Go: An Autobiography

By J. Rives Childs

Frederick Fell, 1983, 338 pp.

The author, born in 1893, was a Foreign Service Officer for three decades until his retirement in 1953. Most of his service was in the Middle East, including a tour as Ambassador to Saudi Arabia (1946-1950). He was a staunch representative of the "Arabist" point of view in the Foreign Service. This well-written memoir contains many fascinating details.
