Political Thought of the Ukrainian Underground, 1943-1951

Edited by Peter J. Poitchnyj and Yevhen Shtendera

A collection of little-known statements, appeals and tracts emanating from the movement for an independent Ukraine, which opposed both the German occupation in World War II and the restoration of Soviet rule. The subjects range from political theory through aims and programs to the strategy and tactics of armed struggle. A valuable source book on a violent and troubled time, though the nationalist cause itself was well-nigh hopeless. The editors have been most helpful in providing notes on the texts and their authors.
