From Trust To Tragedy
Praeger, 1988, 159 pp.
The author was U.S. ambassador to South Vietnam in 1961-63 and a staunch supporter of President Ngo Dinh Diem-"a highly moral and deeply religious man who agonized over the decisions he was forced to make." Ambassador Nolting excoriates his successor, Henry Cabot Lodge, for encouraging the overthrow of Diem and thus bringing on the American involvement in the war.
