El argumento empresarial de la RSE: 9 casos de América Latina y el Caribe.
Inter-American Development Bank and INCAE Business School, 2007, 258 pp.
In developing countries, can corporations make a profit while simultaneously respecting their work force, protecting the environment, and donating generously to social programs? Scholars from INCAE (a leading Latin American business school) scrutinize nine highly successful firms that practice cutting-edge corporate responsibility and respond with a resounding yes. The professionally constructed case studies (written in Spanish) include a coffee broker in Mexico, a sugar plantation in Guatemala, a discount supermarket in Costa Rica, a commercial bank in Brazil, an energy multinational in Trinidad and Tobago, a cement producer in Peru, and a recycling firm in Chile. In case after case, responsible corporate practices helped improve the company's competitive market position, solidify its customer and employee loyalty, and reduce its costs and risks -- demonstrating that economic gain and social virtue are indeed compatible. Although some of the laudatory assertions are not fully substantiated, the cumulative impact is persuasive.
