International Monetary Cooperation

By George N. Halm

University of North Carolina Press, 1945, 355 pp.

This book provides a competent summary of the controversy in the United States and the United Kingdom over plans for monetary coöperation as they developed between the publication of the White and Keynes Plans and the initialing of the Bretton Woods Agreements. The author calls the International Monetary Fund "the only practicable multilateral solution of the world's monetary problems" and says a failure to back it up would "risk destruction of the last chance for a return to healthy multilateral trade."
