Operations in North African Waters. October 1942-June 1943.History of United States Naval Operations in World War II, Volume II
By Samuel Eliot Morison
Atlantic (Little, Brown), 1947, 297 pp.
The author, professor of American history at Harvard, was commissioned early in the war to prepare an historical account of the part played by the United States Navy. There are to be 14 volumes, of which this is the first to be published, though it is second in the series as planned. Though he claims that this is not an official publication, Professor Morison has had every sort of assistance from the Navy Department and was present at the landings in Morocco -- to which most of this volume is devoted.
