Behind Closed Doors
By Rear Admiral Ellis M. Zacharias (Ret.)
Putnam, 1950, 367 pp.
This "secret history of the cold war" displays the weakness inherent in the keyhole approach: it is impossible for the reader to check the reliability of the information except by trying to estimate the probability of certain statements or by awaiting the promised course of events. The author's sources in the Kremlin failed to give him the tip on Korea.
