After a decade's interruption--the war years were too busy for surveying and the postwar years brought an "avalanche of new evidence"--these extremely valuable contributions to the study of international affairs have been resumed. The second volume of the "Survey" for 1938 (the first was published in 1941) deals with the crisis over Czechoslovakia from January to October. The corresponding volume on "Documents" was published in 1943. The present volume, while including a few important items on the Czech crisis which have become available since the war, is primarily concerned with developments in the eight months preceding the outbreak of the Second World War.
