Holmes-Laski Letters
By Mark Dewolfe Howe
Harvard University Press, 1953, 2 pp.
From 1916, when Justice Holmes was 75 and Harold Laski 23, until 1935, these two highly articulate but quite dissimilar men carried on a steady correspondence. While there is much chat and gossip, especially on Laski's part, the correspondence illuminates not only the personalities of the writers but much of the intellectual climate of the years between the First World War and the New Deal.
